About the Foundation
Abyan Youth Foundation is an independent, non-governmental, and non-profit organization. It began its work during the 2011 war as a youth initiative aimed at meeting the needs of those affected by the conflict. The foundation played a significant humanitarian role in assisting the affected and registering displaced persons. Due to its impactful efforts, it officially became a foundation on 15/12/2011, with license number (666) issued by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor.
The foundation operates across the Republic of Yemen, with its headquarters in Abyan Governorate. It currently carries out its activities in the governorates of (Abyan - Aden - Lahj - Al-Dhalea - Shabwa - Socotra). Around 20 employees, who are experienced in implementing development projects across various fields, manage its activities, in addition to approximately 500 registered volunteers participating in different initiatives.

The foundation strives to build a cooperative and positive society to achieve sustainable development and help provide all necessary services for all groups through community participation and empowering youth and women. The foundation also focuses its activities on humanitarian work, social development, charitable initiatives, and human rights.
At Abyan Youth Foundation, we are committed to providing essential protection for vulnerable groups and striving to empower them. Additionally, the foundation is dedicated to preserving and protecting the environment, ensuring that our activities do not cause any harm to nature, and safeguarding natural resources to achieve sustainable development.
The foundation seeks to achieve leadership and meet sustainable development goals through partnerships with the government, society, and both international and local partners in all its projects.
Objectives
- Contributing to the establishment of peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, ensuring access to justice, and full and equal citizenship for all.
- Supporting and enhancing community participation in improving water and sanitation management and ensuring access to sanitation and hygiene services for all.
- Establishing the foundation's leadership role and activating the role of civil society organizations in accordance with legal regulations.
- Contributing to ensuring equitable and quality education for all and promoting lifelong learning opportunities.
- Ensuring that all men and women, especially the poor and vulnerable, have equal rights to access economic resources and basic services by mobilizing significant resources from various sources.
- Developing and implementing a strategy for the training, qualification, and employment of women and youth by seeking to provide suitable job opportunities in coordination with relevant authorities.
- Eliminating all forms of violence against women and girls, including human trafficking, sexual exploitation, and other types of abuse.
- Enhancing resilience and capacity to withstand climate-related risks and natural disasters, integrating climate change measures into national policies, strategies, and planning.

Abyan Youth Foundation seeks to improve efficiency, accuracy, and speed in its operations through automation. Based on this approach, contracts were made with specialized companies, and several electronic systems have been developed and implemented, including:

Achieving ISO Certification
In 2024, Abyan Youth Foundation obtained the ISO 9001:2015 quality certification after the Canadian-accredited LMS company recommended granting the foundation the ISO certification following a successful audit of the ISO 9001:2015 implementation across its departments. With this achievement, Abyan Youth Foundation becomes the first organization in Abyan Governorate to receive ISO certification. This was officially announced by the external auditor, Nassar Al-Mahfadi, in the presence of the General Directors of Planning and Social Affairs.
